1 | A small rental car branch located right in the center of Rijeka. We had a good experience with the company and wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again. 2 | Parking is difficult in the city center, which is likely why they only have a few cars available. We booked a Škoda Fabia but were given a much better Seat Cupra instead. The car was nearly new and well-equipped. 3 | I paid an €800 deposit when picking up the car, which was released a few days after returning it. I appreciated that the rental agent didn’t pressure me into buying unnecessary or duplicate insurance.

We rented from Active Rental at the airport of Rijeka and were lucky enough to be the first in queue after we got off the plane. The process was really slow and I needed to fill in papers even though all of this information was in my online booking. It took more than 20 minutes before everything was processed. The line behind us were at least 5 different bookings so you can only imagine the waiting time. This process could and should be smoother. On a positive note, the staff was incredibly friendly and spoke English well. We even got a free upgrade! There are some major things bothering me though: - The car fuel is not full to full which makes it hard delivering the car back to them. - The company really tries to rip you off by asking for an extra (unnecessary) insurance. - They also try to rip you off by asking if you go to other countries or take the ferry. Just answer no to that even though you do. Why try to rip your customers off? It is so disrespectful. The car on the other hand was very good! Would recommend but be careful with the things mentioned above.

Would not use this rental company again. Queue to pick up car at RJK airport was well over an hour despite there only being 3-4 people ahead of us when we joined. They then charged a EUR 800 fee for a small dent in the roof which was entirely outside of our control (possibly from a storm). Attendant at the booth was smug and rude throughout the process. In addition after I placed this review on the google page for another Active location (the first that comes up via search) I received a phone call asking me to take it down after this location had provided my number so they aren't particularly careful with person data either.

We had the most dreadful experience of our vacation so far with ACTIVE Car Rental. We had reserved a car to drive to Dubrovnik and were supposed to pick it up at 4:30 PM. Knowing we’d be a little late due to traffic, we called the agency around 3 PM. The customer service representative was very kind and reassured us that a delay was completely understandable. When we arrived at the Rijeka location around 5:10 PM, we were met by a man who immediately confronted us with hostility. Without so much as a greeting, he began accusing us of lying and insisted that we had never called anyone. He then barked orders at us—“Sit. Card. ID. Reservation.”—as if we were children. Apparently, we didn’t hand over the documents fast enough for his liking, and he grew visibly irritated, repeating his demands with a very raised voice. He asked my boyfriend whether we were traveling outside of Croatia. For context, my boyfriend doesn’t speak Croatian and English isn’t his first language, so he misunderstood the question. The man’s response was to raise his voice again even louder - shouting at us at this point. I stepped in to clarify that we were only going to Dubrovnik, as clearly stated in the reservation, to which he shouted, “I’m not talking to you—I’m talking to the man.” (For reference, I’m a woman.) At that point, I asked for our documents back and canceled the reservation on the spot. I called the agency again—the same one he insisted we had never contacted—and their communication was professional, but unfortunately, their employee’s behavior was anything but. Having staff who speak to customers with such misogyny, aggression, and complete lack of respect reflects terribly on the company. I truly hope no one else has to experience this kind of treatment while trying to enjoy their vacation. Avoid this agency at all costs—there are plenty of others who will treat you like a human being.

Would give 0 stars, if possible. We have booked a car at Check24 to pick up the car at the airport Rijeka. First the car was not yet available (due to an accident) we need to wait 30 more minutes. Then the car war ready but we have to wait again in the line after all other customers. Very very bad service. The person at the desk do not even was interested to help anyhow. And then every customer needed at least 15 Minutes until everything was checked and read to go to the car. At the end one hour later we got the car and there we're only 4 customers at this day. Do not recommend this car rental at all!
