Really good experience overall. The car was clean. Pickup and return were smooth, and the staff was polite and easy to deal with. I’d happily rent from them again!

We hadn’t planned to hire a car this year but soon realised we were going to need one. Avantcar were selected by our online agent and they were excellent. Good and helpful staff. We even decided to extend the hire a day which was easily done over email. Very affordable. About €250 for four days in a brand new VW large enough for five. Recommended.

Delighted! After booking through Booking.com (inc full insurance) as it was waaaay cheaper than anywhere else, I admit I was nervous reading the Google reviews afterward. Was it too good to be true? Normally is. So I was suspicious. Turns out it was unjustified. Yes, they ask about their own insurance and take a big deposit, but so does every car hire place in the UK. I declined their insurance as I'd booked full cover through Booking.com. We got taken from the office to a secure lot, checked over the car, a hybrid automatic Toyota Yaris. Immaculate and wonderful to drive. So far so good. Suspicious again for drop-off, no need. We dropped at the easy to find Split airport drop-off for AvantCar and had a lovely friendly welcome as they opened. Car was checked over, explained about releasing the deposit again and off we went to the airport which is walking distance across the road! Total of 5 mins from drop off to leaving. All in all a fabulous service. If anything changes in releasing my deposit then I'll alter my review to reflect that. Thanks!

The car was fine, but be prepared for the pressure selling! You have to buy the expensive additional damage insurance or else you will be charged thousands of euros if you don’t buy it!! Apparently without it you will damage the car by hitting wild animals in the forest, falling rocks (not sure where from) and crashing on the toll roads. I’m not sure how the insurance will stop this, but if this happens you will also need to buy a police report…. Honestly! I bought the insurance for 150e and nothing happened! I felt like taking the car back without a straight panel on it as I was apparently covered for all damage. Upon return the chap tried to accuse of me scratching the car even through it was dead bugs and dust and even though I handed the car back early I had to add 8e of fuel or I’ll be fined again. In short… watch out for the hard sell, the hidden charges and the wild animals in the forest ready to jump out on you if you don’t buy the extra insurance. I will just go to enterprise next time

We were scammed and robbed! Our experience with Avant Car Croatia was absolutely terrible. From the beginning, the staff was unprofessional and unclear. But the worst part came when we returned the car—they charged us hidden and unjustified fees without any proper explanation or documentation. We tried to resolve the issue directly with them, but their customer service was completely unresponsive. They ignored our complaints and treated us with arrogance and disrespect. We feel completely cheated. Avoid this company at all costs. If you're planning to rent a car in Croatia, choose a different provider—one that is transparent, honest, and respectful to its customers. Avant Car has proven to be the opposite.
