In our recent trip to Croatia, we rented car from Sixt Split downtown, it was quite a good experience, checkout was quick and easy. Car is new and had only about 2500km on it. We chose empty tank as the guy told us there is big discount(whole sale price) but only realized after we got bill that the discounts price was before tax. With about 20% of VAT added, it ended up very much the same as retail. We returned car at Zagreb airport early morning, it was simple parking to their lot and returned key to dropbox.

I have been ringing and emailing them to get my €600 deposit refunded. It’s been 2 months and they don’t reply to emails or calls. Absolutely horrendous customer service, avoid at all costs. Additionally my fuel level was 7.8/8 (very close to full) given the short drive from the petrol pump. They recorded it as 7/8 and said they will charge me €41 for “filling it up”. Don’t rent from these scammers.

Absolutely do not rent your car here. 2 days after the return, I was charged extra money from my credit card, even tho the car was in the same condition as it was during a pick up and I got it on paper. I do not recommend. The worst car rental company ever

Very disappointing experience at Sixt Split Downtown. Do not rent your car from Sixt Split. I was verbally assured at Sixt Split Downtown that a same-day late return would be accepted since they couldn't change the return time from 8am to 3pm. I returned the car in perfect condition and the same day, yet Sixt charged an extra day+late fees, and refused to verify their staff’s statement. I have initiated a chargeback with my card issuer and lodged a formal complaint with ECC Croatia under EU consumer-protection law — I will pursue all available remedies, including national enforcement, until this unlawful charge is refunded. Poor service and no accountability.

Attention! Don't trust! They'll make double charge by stealing your credit card information and charging the same amount again at the end of the car rental. I contacted my bank, which checked everything and confirmed my statements, and now I have to sue Sixt.
