Hertz Car Rental Iceland - Akureyri Airport

Great service. Easy car pick up and drop off. Never has been faster.

Agency not clean at all, rental cars are very expensive, cars are not even perfectly clean but ok, enough to travel

We have rented cars all over the world for more than 20 years, and never had a bad experience until now. The service by hertz iceland has been nerve wrecking. First, they have a system where they only send the contract the same day of pick up, when their office closes. So as we were busy with the flight transfers and running out of battery, we had to call multiple times in order to get the final contract and information to pick up the car after hours! Having booked the car months before, they pushed it to the very last minute before our last domestic flight. Returning the car wasn't easier. No instructions anywhere in the booking information or contract, no one picking up the phone, made multiple calls for over 40 min. The lady from icelandic airways saying we should leave the keys with her, which we eventually did. We also called another local number, apparently a shared service with avis, where I met this person without any manners or communication skills, and definitely no training in customer service. After listening to her talking unpolitely to me for some time, I asked her to please speak to me politely, and be considerate that we had been trying to speak with someone for over 40 minutes, but she did not have the tools to manage this input and only became more rude. After this horrible process, we tried calling hertz iceland again, to finally get an answer (1h later), to let them know who had the keys. A simple sign next to the boxes where you want the keys returned, indicating something like "keys return" or similar would be helpful. Never again hertz.

I had a booking planned for October so I went in to ask questions but no one was there even though it was during the opening hours. After reading some of the reviews for Hertz Akureyri and Keflavík I decided to cancel my booking...

I came to return our car. Door to the Office opened. No one there, car keys just lying around... i had to wait for half an hour until some guy came back.
