Holdur Car Rental - Europcar - Akureyri Airport

Great service the staff is doing a great job. They are staying relaxed also in crowded situations. They're taking care of each and every customer. Looking forward to my next rental at Europcar. The car (Kia ceed plug-in hybrid) was great and reliable.

Nice and friendly guy at the counter, he gave me lots of advice and a leaflet about North Iceland including safety, what to look for, and so on. Was upgraded for free from a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross to a Toyota Landcruiser (worth double the price) and the car was just amazing. Can't be more thankful to these guys, I know car upgrades are fairly standard during less busy periods but this upgrade seriously made my holiday so much better for me and my family, (as a 21 year old driving alone the whole time) Car return was easy with key drop off and just park the car at the same place you pick it up. Deposit returned after about a week but always take pictures before and after to be safe! Will definitely use Europcar again when I return to Akureyri :)

Rented a car here when I visited Iceland in 2022. Their service was clear and straightforward. Iceland is a hardened land and you should set your expectations with that in mind. The exterior of this car wasn't dirt free and several small blemishes were visible. I signed for the car before I had a chance to inspect it, but I was able to send an e-mail noting the blemishes so I could not be held accountable. All in all, this car enabled us to enjoy our first visit to Iceland. It was comfortable and able to handle the rougher parts we traveled through. (excluding F-roads, which we didn't want to travel on so we didn't get that kind of car)

Pickup of the car key was conveniently while we were waiting for our luggage. I only don't like when before and after inspection are not done in person. It leaves room for discussion.

I trusted europcar's claim that "all their cars have winter tires" to find out in the middle of a snowstorm that the car (4x4 SUV) actually had older summer tires. 2 stars because there were no problems otherwise.
