My car was taken back without any prior communication. When I arrived in Bled (Slovenia), I discovered that there is no permanent Hertz office there. Upon calling Hertz, I was informed that the car had been taken to Ljubljana because car pickup time was 9am and that I didn't come at 9am to pickup the car and that I would need to pay an additional €50 and a 45min wait if I still want the car. This was over 30% of the original booking cost, which felt unreasonable and misleading.
As I had already planned my day with my family during our holiday, I had no practical choice but to pay the extra amount.
Additionally, at the time of handover, I specifically asked whether the fuel tank was full, and I was told it had been recently filled. However, after driving off, I noticed the dashboard indicated that the car had already covered around 260km since the last refuel. To avoid any issues during return - especially while traveling with family - I still ended up filling the tank full when returning the car.
Overall, the experience was disappointing from pickup to return.
