Enterprise Car & Van Hire - Barnstaple

Great experience overall. The staff are really friendly and the prices were quite reasonable. One of the staff members Emily showed me mercy when silly me woke up an hour after I was meant to return my vehicle. She was really friendly about it and knocked down the late fee (by quite a lot 🙏🏻). Very pleased!

Don’t even bother. Terrible customer service. Told me 1 and a half hours before I was supposed to arrive that I couldn’t have the car because I don’t have a credit card and my details apparently didn’t match up. Online it says nothing about needing a credit card. It says either a credit card or a debit card. Really unhelpful. Spoke to the manager who said she couldn’t do anything about it because it was booked through a 3rd party. Contacted the third party and even they said enterprise falsely advertised and refused to explain why they ran this check on me to the third party . Their check was my full name and address to check if my debit card would work (how does that tell you if my card is going to work or not)

If I could put 0 stars 🌟 I would!! Very stressful experience with Enterprise. They cancelled our van hire at 6pm the evening before we were due to move the next day, despite the booking already being fully paid for. Leaving people with that little notice when they have important plans is really poor service, especially when you can’t guarantee another van will even be available elsewhere at short notice. Thankfully, Tarka Van Hire answered the phone after hours and sorted us out straight away. If you need a reliable van hire company in Devon, I’d recommend going straight to Tarka Van Hire.

To start with I need to say that I have been an Enterprise customer for a while now, however I usually go to the Enterprise at Kraków Airport (And unlike in Barnstaple, they are amazing). Today I had a very bad experience with Barnstaple Enterprise. I booked my chosen car (A Mercedes E class or something simular) roughly around a week in advance, and my experience up until that moment was very poor. When i came in they asked me additional questions they called 'additional security checks', asking me where I work and what I do for a living, also asking for an additional phone number - It's important to mention I've never been asked these before, so this was a new part of my experience with Enterprise. When I finally passed those extra security checks, they showed me my car which was a Mercedes C Class estate, which wasn't at all what I expected. For me an E class premium or similar is NOT C class estate, even so the guy was arguing that they are the same. It looks like me and Barnstaple have different defintionions of what 'premium' is 😂 what a joke. Anyways, booking in advance didn't help. I phoned them a few days before collection to make sure that I will get the E class or similar and the lady on the other end said that she has 'good news' and acted as if me booking the car was some sort of privilege her tone suggesting that they deem me worthy enough of even being a customer (not a joke), what a privilege to be an Enterprise Barnstaple customer. 🤣 I didn't want to make a scene, I asked for a refund and left. I'm taking my business elsewhere from now on, there are many other car rentals in the UK which I'm sure will be far more efficient. Strongly not recommended, I hope they hire more professional staff. It's not Enterprise that's the problem, it's down to the people that are working there at the moment.

Absolutely dreadful service - i booked a van, then when i turn up to collect you have none available? When it's booked and paid for! Then your staff have the nerve to lie and say they tried to ring to let us know on a business phone that's answered 24/7? Why are you taking money from people when you don't have the vehicles available?? As I wasn't the only person to have this happen to on this day. We will never use again.
